Get ready for an epic ride along the Northern Rivers Rail Trail, from the vibrant town of Murwillumbah to the charming Crabbes Creek! This section of the trail offers stunning scenery, cool historical spots, and plenty of opportunities for fun. And the best way to experience it all? On a comfy Fat tyre e-bike from Valley Ebikes, of course!

"Here, we will help you find the perfect fat tire e-bike. After a quick safety briefing and some local tips, you will be ready to ride!"

Murwillumbah to Dunbible: Art, History, and Stunning Views 6.3km

The first leg of your journey takes you to Dunbible. You'll glide along a paved section of the trail, with fantastic views overlooking the sprawling sugarcane fields. The trail then turns to gravel. You ride through dairy farms under a tree canopy to Dunbible station.

Keep your eyes peeled for a couple of cultural gems along the way:

  • Tweed Regional Art Gallery and the Margaret Olley Art Centre: Look for the sign and the steps leading up to this amazing art hub. Take a break and immerse yourself in the incredible local, national and international artwork on display.
  • Arts Centre Café: Named Apex Dinning the Cafe is the perfect spot to recharge. Enjoy tasty snacks while you take in the stunning views of the Tweed River and Mt Wollumbin. By the way, Mt Wollumbin is the central part of an old volcano!

Dunbible to Stokers Siding: Village Vibes and Tasty Treats 8.3km

As you ride, the trail goes through native bushland and rolling fields. It takes you from the quaint Dunbible train station to the charming village of Stokers Siding. You will ride over the beautiful Dunbible Bridge, which is a heritage site. You may be lucky enough to spot turtles and platypuses in the creek below.

The General Store/Post Office: Known as num bums takeaway its located in the old railway station. It has a verandah tearoom, which is great for a relaxing break!

As you ride, the trail goes through native bushland and rolling fields. It takes you from the quaint Dunbible train station to the charming village of Stokers Siding. You will ride over the beautiful Dunbible Bridge, which is a heritage site. You may be lucky enough to spot turtles and platypuses in the creek below.

Stokers Siding to Burringbar: Farm Stay, Tunnel Time and Rainforest Wonders 18.7km

Next up, just 1km past Stokers siding Starion is the famous Hosanna Farm Stay. A perfect plcae to stop with the family and meet all the farm animals and grab a bite to eat at th cafe.

From here you'll encounter a slight uphill section as you approach the legendary Burringbar Tunnel. The Burringbar Range Tunnel is one of the longest train tunnels in NSW at 524 meters long.  Be sure to:

  • Turn on your e-bike light: The middle of the tunnel is super dark, adding to the adventure!
  • Keep an eye out for glowworms and microbats: If you're quiet and still, you might just catch a glimpse of their amazing glow!

"We do offer guided nigh rides where we take you to the tunnel as it truely comes to life after dark. Its like a galaxy of glowworms. Learn more about the Glowworm tour here. "

Once you emerge from the tunnel, prepare to experience the stunning Burringbar Valley. This part of the trail showcases ancient native rainforests and is part of the Scenic Rim – the side wall of a massive ancient volcano!

You will then arrrive at Burringbar village. The village has a nice picnic area with food and drink options, making it a great place to stop and refuel. You can try The Barn or the Natural Wine Shop. While visiting Old Heath's Wares, which is like a vintage Bunnings.

Before your ride ask us about the secret waterhole in Burringbah, its so much fun if your are looking for a place to swim.

The last part of your adventure leads you to Mooball. You cross several small rail bridges and a long bridge over Burringbar Creek.

When you arrive in Mooball, you will see telegraph poles. A crafty local painted them in black and white cow prints over 50 years ago. Today they remain adding a lot of character to the town.

Mooball: is the perfect place for a refreshment. We highly recommend the Victory Hotel for a cold drink and counter meal. They even have a pool and tennis court to enjoy.

Also the MooMoo Roadhouse they offer awesome milkshakes, burgers, and a great selection of sandwiches and hot food.

After leaving Mooball, you will go through the Hulls Road tunnel. Much shorter than the Burringbar Range Tunnel, at only 50 meters, on your way to Crabbes Creek station. You can also take a quick detour to explore Crabbes Creek itself.

Now you have reached the end of the Tweed Section of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail. Guess what? You get to turn around and ride back to Murwillumbah! and soak up that fantastic experience once more.

The last part of your adventure leads you to Mooball. You cross several small rail bridges and a long bridge over Burringbar Creek.
